His
name is Mynard Road and we call him Jimmy. Jimmy is a
10 year-old, 16.3 hand thoroughbred - a war horse - that
suffered a bowed tendon injury in September 2007.
Jimmy's race owner tried very hard to find Jimmy a home, but
who would want a 10 year-old injured thoroughbred? WE
DO! These war horses have spent many years racing and
have seen so much that they make really nice family horses.
Jimmy is no different. His foster home says that he is
a joy to be around, easy to hand-walk, loves treats, loves
to eat and has been a
very good boy while on stall-rest. Jimmy, his foster
home and all of us at Friends of Ferdinand would like to
thank the Fans of Barbaro for raising the money to support
Jimmy while he heals and waits to find a family of his own.
Update: January 08 - The vet is coming the see Jimmy
to evaluate his progress and update his treatment plan.
His foster home is doing such a good job managing his rehab
that we think it may be time for Jimmy to spend some time on
his own in a small paddock! There is no heat or swelling in
his tendon and he is moving very well. Jimmy should be
suited for flatwork, trail and pleasure work. He
should not jump.
Update:
July 2008
- Jimmy has an adoption pending! Congrats to
Jimmy and his new person!!
